police protect the trots!

Pickman's model

Starry Wisdom
i was proceeding along gower street in a southerly direction when i observed a social workers party stall alongside one for the ruc outside the gates of one of britain's more famous institutions of higher education. i noted that said stalls appeared to be in contravention of s.137 of the highways act 1980 - but to my not inconsiderable astonishment members of the constabulary were already on the scene! adjacent to each of the stalls i have mentioned was a constable from kentish town police station, presumably making notes with regard to a possible prosecution from the studious manner in which they were writing! securing a vantage point outside the former uch building on the other side of the thoroughfare i paused to keep watch on the situation, and saw one of the officers kindly retrieve some errant literature a zephyr had grasped from one of the stalls - leading to my depressing conclusion reflected in the title of this thread.

On the other end of the gates, there was a REVO stall.

Did you see a tall, brown guy with dreads, in a Baader-Meinhoff t-shirt?

Twas I.

Police protecting the Swappies, more like protecting a valuable intellegence asset for the spooks at Thames House.

Hello raji, welcome to london :)

i'd show u around but i'm not there anymore. If ur at UCL, don't go hating the SWSS, at least the ones in STW, they are actually a nice bunch (as pickmans himself knows) and very willing to work with others.

Takes note of hippy like appearance.

Quite. Except I don't wear tie-dye, or eat lentil soup.

Or smoke dope all day to "chill out, maaan".

you look like a hippy/student lefty mate.

Gawkrodger - yes i'm sure but they can be worked with. Its not like we have any illusions in their integrity, theyre just better when they are younger.

bollocks.

Utter bollocks.

I quote an SP member in conversation to a WP, ''for such a small group, revo consumes about as much drink and drugs as the rest of the revolutionary left combined''.

Don't worry about it, i'm not attacking you in any way considering the manifesto wants to legalise all drugs (in fact was trying to talk to raji who is blanking me for unknown reasons..?) its just that if Revo have a reputation(amongst the left*) for anything its doing drugs and having a good time. And being a bit more aggressive than other groups.

*i don't think anarcho's ever distinguish between revo and WP, and they just slander any trot group anyway :D

PS what happened to revo sheffield? Weren't u gonna buy a house here?

Oh dear.

What an earth are you doing in Revo then?

Building an independant revolutionary socialist youth movement?

I dont think there is a branch in sheffield, and I wasn't ever going to buy a house there, as a far as I know.

Is that what we're known for? I don't do any of those things and can think of few members that do.

Didn't you have a problem with several members including red hippy when he was arrested for possession of ecstasy? I know that by the time he was arrested he didn't have much left but that isn't really the point is it?

Obviously im not on urban 75 enough to relealise that no-one would fall for the last comment.

So Workers Power member Red Hippy was lying when he posted that he had been arrested and chaged with possession of ecstacy?

*yawn*

Yes, Red Hippy did get arrested. Yes, he had ecstasy on him. No, it isn't something he's proud of.

What is this obsession some people have with a few revo members being caught with a couple of pills? Hardly Earth-shattering stuff.

A number of us on here were quite shocked to be honest and concerned about the way Workers Power swept it under the carpet. I don't recall many other members of the vanguard of the class getting caught with drugs . What sort of example is that?

Isn't that just a bit too flippant? I am as broad minded as the next but picture this - at the UNISON/NUT/ lecturers union branch meeting RedHippy or one of the others goes to front to move a motion and all around the hall there is a wave of whispering 'There's that bloke who got done for drugs' and then of course you get rumours and heresay , people get confused wuth ectasy and acid or angel dust or possession for personal use or intent to supply. This might be acceptable at some poorly attended university student union but I don't think it would even go down well at most FEs tbh.

Does it really matter what substances people choose to put into their body on their own time?

Yes. They are supposed to be the most class conscious elements of the working class. They should be setting an example, as Chuck quite rightly pointed out.
