Please dissect me yet another tedious Daily Mail benefits story.

Good to see that, as ever, you've taken account of the psychodynamics and gender politics of the situation, Frank.

I've never met these people, how could I have any idea about the 'psychodynamics' of their situation? This thread is about numbers, and I'm pretty sure my economic analysis of the situation holds water.

Cue an avalanche of quote unqoute lefties explaining how poor people don't understand where babies come from and aren't capable of understanding cause and effect.

its been a long time since i've been in a position to require them, but i remember them being rather expensive. And thats not adjusting for inflation.

They're cheaper than kids. You can also get them free from all sorts of places. The pill is also free.

e2a: There's definitely a joke to made involving condoms and 'adjusting for inflation' but I can't quite find it...

Just from this thread I know that six of the seven kids were with her ex-husband. With a bit more foresight though she would have known they'd split up and then he'd refuse to contribute more than a few quid here and there. Entirely her fault.

The "economic analysis" that says "By comparison, condoms cost practically nothing"? That's not "economic analysis", it's a banal truism that doesn't take account of why condoms might not have been used (something an "economic analysis" worthy of the name would usually do).

No, cue a few people telling you that you're an idiot and a gobshite, Frank.
Same as always, you man of the people, you.

You're right. It's always the woman's fault, even when it's the man's fault. That's how insidious those witches are!!! :hmm:  :hmm:

It's not entirely her fault, but not entirely not her fault either is it? Not that I think it's remotely relevant either way, it's not the kids' fault and they're the ones who end up getting shafted by all these cuts.
