playing politics

Pickman's model

Starry Wisdom
i see politicians often say politics shouldn't be played with a situation, e.g. the recent greek elections. surely politicians view all situations through a political prism and therefore should be approaching them with a political analysis? are they suggesting that some things are above party politics or just acknowledging they have no politics worth the name?

No, in a British context it is usually said when their opposition picks on an issue that is important to them and which the original politicians already have a stance on that conflicts with that of the opposition.

Examples include Education and Health where each side wishes the other to bow out of, claiming that their own position is purely objective and above the current political debate.

Viewing the oafish yahoos sitting about in Westminster, it is impossible to refute the suggestion that 'playing' is exactly what these morons are doing. A return to their old school debating society...since it is patently obvious that these people are manifestly untouched by real world issues of poverty and lack of hope and furthermore, they are mere sockpuppets for the true seat of power, which is located in faceless corporations and shady financial currency markets and the like. Even that annoying stance they adopt, leaning nonchalantly on the lectern, smacks of posturing and spectacle rather than anything of any real substance. I grind my teeth in rage that these shit mongers appear to believe that they are in any way representative of the polity as a whole.
