Pig's in Blankets / Sausages Wrapped in Bacon

I bought some ready made ones the year before last, I forget where from. I am the only one who eats meat out of everyone I might possibly cater for on Xmas day, so I thought a nice little tray of pigs in blankets would save me a bit of work, I can just heat them up have a couple with dinner then eat the rest of them cold with leftovers the next day.

Such a disappointment, they were really really salty, like someone decided that sausages and bacon didn't contain enough salt already and decided it needed more salt. Didn't eat them all, and I am someone who will avoid waste wherever possible :(

In future I will just construct my own - using sausages and bacon that are both a known quantity

A bullet was dodged today - I spotted in time that the other half had bought the Wrong Kind Of Sausage so there was an emergency trip to the butcher to grab some chipolatas for PiB goodness.

Called planka

I think Derek Trotter's half-brother serves these up in his Peckham pop-up.

OH is insistent on veggie PiBs involving meat-free Richmonds wrapped in quorn bacon-style slices. I did look at pre-prepared veggie/vegan PiBs in the supermarket, but they were horrifically expensive for what they were. OH and guests (all pescetarian) will be getting the above. I'll make 1 meat pig in a blanket for myself - picked up some very nice dry cured streaky bacon :D
