I once bought Wowee Zowee because I heard good things about the band. It bored me to tears, I'm afraid. I'm not sure it was bad, just not for me. I don't understand the appeal, but then I don't necessarily expect to understand the appeal of everything.
I loved Pavement at the time - discovered them via the Wedding Present's cover of Box Elder on the Brassneck EP - but don't listen to them a lot now. Brighten the Corners has some great stuff on it though.
Only came to them late in the day. Hadn't really paid too much attention at the time.
Been listening to Wowee Zowee recently again and there's a lot of influences there - Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Pixies, Dinosaur Jr... even a bit of a Doors-like freakout towards the end.

Am listening to them more 12 years on due to teenage daughters - they are popular with Gen Z partly due to being bigged up by Beabadoobee. In fact went to see them live a few years back with teen 2.
Yeah my kids are big into Pavement. Dad, Dad, have you ever listened to Pavement? I think you'd like them . Oh thanks for the hot tip kids - good to see your fingers are on the pulse....
I bought tickets to go see the film in a few weeks with them... where I believe Steve from Stranger Things plays Malkmus...

I probably already said on this thread, but wowee zowee is easily my favourite album of theirs, it is hit after hit right till the end (apart from the very last song which I hate for some reason)
