As mentioned in the FND thread, this has come as a surprise shock to me. A supremely talented chap seemingly capable of playing any character who I was hoping to see giving a little bit of colour to the world for a long time hence. A sad day for acting in the UK

Very sad - he played the eccentric Dad so well (wandering around with an oil can to oil door hinges, the "shed" and his hidden hobbies) - I could relate to him all right. Saw one of the sons at Euston one night - (Tom Rosenberg ?) , and asked if he was going home for FND .....

Never saw Friday Night Dinner, but he was so chilling as Dyatlev in Chernobyl. 54 is no age.

I'm unreasonably affected by this news. I really did love what he did and was always excited whenever he showed up in anything. Such a talent.

Me too. I obviously didn’t know him personally but the characters he portrayed made a big impact.

he had a small role in the series 'pulling' but it was very memorable. ive kept an eye out for him since then.
