# On The CD Player Today (take 6)

I've listened to animal collective before and, at the risk of sounding like an old bastard, it's just... noise, isn't it? I'll have to try again because they seem to get mad props (mainly from hipsters tbf so might not mean much).

It's not that so much, because I love beautiful melodies behind noise as a concept (MBV, JAMC, Fuck Buttons, etc), but AC just sounded like a slightly more electronic Mercury Rev to me (also OK but overrated). It sounded to me like an arthouse attempt to ape the Beach Boys or something, and nowhere near the worth proclaimed to it by critics.

Grinderman - "Grinderman 2"
Tindersticks - "Tindersticks (debut)"

These are both very good on the first listen though.

The Yo-Yos -Uppers And Downers (gram punk/proto punk influenced r&r on Subpop)

Today: Kanye West - The College Dropout (skipping the skits)
