Obi-Wan Kenobi not guilty of lying about Luke's father wanting Luke to have his light sabre.

Obi-Wan Kenobi from Star Wars has been getting quite a lot of grief on the Internet about telling Luke "this is your father's light sabre, he wanted you to have it when you were old enough". Normally this quote is shown alongside a picture of Obi-Wan cutting the legs and arm off Luke's father and leaving him burning of sliding into a lake of molten fire. Thus the suggestion being that Obi-Wan is lying. But during his apprenticeship, Anakin (Darth Vader) may have told Obi-Wan that the light sabre was very special and if he ever had kids he would want to pass it on to them when they were old enough. Point being Obi-Wan was not necessary lying on this particular occasion about this, of course it was a huge whopper about his father being dead.

Obi Wan is a sneaky fucker. Remember he also claimed not to remember or know R2-D2 either when he first encountered it in A New Hope, despite their many adventures together in the past. Then again Vader himself did not recognise it or even C3PO, which he'd built himself. Oh, how I love the prequel trilogy and how well it sits with the original trilogy...
