Obama inauguration: Who's watching live?

I would pay not to watch, but wait a minute.... I own neither a t.v. or a t.v licence but according to the t.v licencing blurb if I own a computer or a mobile phone I have to pay anyway. I'm fucked either way. :D

I might wander over to the news desk and watch the producers shitting themselves in case they fuck it up :D

Yes, and I want to go to a party or be with other people watching it.

This is not a thing to watch on your own.

Where can it be watched?

Why? Is it a spectator sport? Regardless of the fat that it's a black bloke becoming president what will actually change in concrete terms? Apart from this being probably the most expensive inauguration ever....

I can almost hear The Who soundtrack.....

I think there might be a repeat of Friends on E4.

Just a hunch.
I know! I bought a Freeview box recently, to the joy of my teen. She has discovered the Hollyoaks channel, the Friends channel, and god knows what else. 24 hour soap-com repeats.

~~~
I heard a BBC Radio Scotland "simulcast" with an American radio station this morning. People are wetting themselves on both sides of the Atlantic. Jesus, people! He's a politician, not the farquin Second Coming!
He's not the Second Coming, is he? :eek: :hmm:
Why bother celebrating the new year, eh? Nothing's going to change, it'll be just another day after next day, mumble, grumble, moan....
Even if you don't give a fuck about politics, what's happening today is a momentous slab of history being made, and I, for one, would like to watch it happen.
Innit.
I might watch the highlights on youtube.
Why is it such a big deal to say you saw it live? Won't it be the same thing you're watching tomorrow?
Or do you have to feel part of it to make a difference?
Genuinely interested.
It will have already happened then.
I want to see it happen and know I'm watching something hugely important at the same time as a vast chunk of the planet.
As I thought, I think you have to feel involved to benefit from that approach. I don't really get all this 'something to tell the grandkids'.
Will he do anything surprising? Aren't these kind state affairs just a standard routine?
I managed to line up a date for this evening. So if I play it right, I'll miss the entire coronation, get a free dinner, and get laid too!
Anyone see the BBC lunchtime news? Brilliant. The first 12 minutes were about the inauguration. Only, nothing's happened yet. But they had all the staff in Washington, and so we were treated to live chat with them saying nothing's happened yet.
"In just a few hours time, quite near here, Obama will be sworn in. Well, not actually very near here, because we've not been let in yet. We'll have to queue to get in. Just beyond that cordon that you can probably see behind me".
"And that's where Obama will be?"
"No, that's where we'll have to queue".
How many US black presidents have you seen inaugurated so far then?
It's got fuck all to do with 'something to tell the grandkids'. I want to watch it because - astonishingly - I'm interested in the political and social developments of one of the most powerful nations on earth.
