As a youngster i lived in tiny St Tudy on the edge of Cornwall's Bodmin Moor. A local semi aristo family were the Blighs. They became infamous when William Bligh's extreme cruelty provoked a mutiny on board the ship HMS Bounty. 'Mutiny on the Bounty' was a fine film (Fletcher Christian, the mutineers leader was depicted by Marlon Brando).. The image below is on St Tudy Parish church.

As mentioned above, as a kid my home was in Cornwall. Our next door neighbour ( it was a small council estate in St Tudy) worked at the nearby De Lank Granite Quarry through the 1950/60s. He was a lovely bloke, and he took pride in being the very one who had responsibility for cutting and supplying the enormous cube of stone that ultimately came to support Karl Marx's head at Highgate! i've been amused by this fact on and off down the years - a piece of Cornwall, now in London, was hewed from the earth by my next door neighbour, and today celebrates the worlds foremost communist thinker! Surely this qualifies me for proletarian of the year?
