Could People From The UK Visit North Korea?

I think they might be out of buckwheat noodles at the moment. I believe they're facing another famine.

The book Nothing to Envy is an interesting read about the daily lives of North Koreans.
I’ve read that and agree it’s a worthwhile read.
In fact any book by defectors is a worthwhile read as there’s no other way of peering in.

I was always interested in the NATO soldiers who went to East Germany during the Cold War - from what I've read of them it was all a bit depressing. Initially all very exciting and a good decision, and then a few years later just a lonely drudgery.
Despite being given a decent Minsk apartment and job, Lee Harvey Oswald quickly got fed up because there were no bowling alleys and nothing to do but go to trade union dances. And the Soviets apparently didn't really want him, and only accepted him after he nearly killed himself in a Moscow hotel. His experience obviously didnt dissuade him from the cause either.

We got close, years ago. The tour bus preps you for how to behave at the border. Specifically told not to take pictures at certain points. Of course, some of the Americans didn't think this applied to them and took pictures at certain points.

Overall a fascinating experience like none other but that's as far "north" as we got.

More welcoming was North Cyprus some years back.
