can you give a quick summary of what Lih's interpretation (based on his own translation work, is that right?) is so different to the orthodox position on Lenin? ...I've come across this briefly but my memory is faint on it..

It's basically about how Lenin used Kautsky and the SPD as a roadmap and that there was no decisive break in Lenin's marxism, or Kautskyism, if you want to call it that!

Basically What is to be done has to be situated in the context of the German social democracy and second international marxism, and the conditions in russia I.E: how to build an approximation of a social democratic party under a harsh police state, bear in mind that social democratic parties had reformist and revolutionary wings at the time...
