New computer , awful graphics

Imported all my pics etc from memory stick but the pictures look awful, washed out and feint . Typing is also very feint on some sites even though i upped contrast
is there something i need to download regarding graphics?

the text is really bad, light grey ....any ideas?

Try updating the graphics card driver. Upping contrast usually makes things worse.
