Misogynist barbarians in Alabama impose forced pregnancy law

Missouri didn't waste any time:

Following the Supreme Court of the United States’ ruling in Dobbs that overturns Roe v. Wade, Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt Friday issued an opinion that “triggers” parts of Missouri’s House Bill 126, effectively ending abortion in the State of Missouri.

Missouri is the first state in the country to do so, according to a release from the AG.

“Today, following the United States Supreme Court’s ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade, with the issuance of an attorney general opinion, my Office has yet again reinforced Missouri’s dedication to protecting the sanctity of life, both born and unborn. With this attorney general opinion, my Office has effectively ended abortion in Missouri, becoming the first state in the country to do so following the Court’s ruling,” said Attorney General Schmitt. “My Office has been fighting to uphold the sanctity of life since I became attorney general, culminating in today’s momentous court ruling and attorney general opinion. I will continue the fight to protect all life, born and unborn.”

Section B of HB126 states, “The enactment of section 188.017 of this act shall only become effective upon notification to the revisor of statutes by an opinion by the attorney general of Missouri”

And Section 188.017 that is “triggered” by an attorney general’s opinion states, in part, “Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, no abortion shall be performed or induced upon a woman, except in cases of medical emergency”

Thus, with the opinion from the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, abortion, except in cases of medical emergency, is now outlawed in the State of Missouri.

I've lived in Missouri (pronounced "misery"). It was one of the most racist, pig ignorant places I've ever lived.

Nebraska won't be far behind and will likely hold a special legislative session to ban abortion. This is going to turn into ugly trench warfare before its done.

A shameful day for the US:

Held: The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives.

and on the same day they make it legal to over turn laws that stop open or concealed carry in most states

America is on a dark path that i'm not sure can be corrected within the next few years

unless they open the Supreme court to more justices or change the rules on it being for life

they don't want to protect children who are walking the earth
but as long as they can force people to have more it all ok

fuck trumps legacy

My cousin who lives over there with his 3 little daughters, he's texting about getting them their uk citizenship again, said he'd do it if trump is reelected but this is enough motivation. It's not good when those lucky enough to have the makings of an escape raft start building it.

I don't blame your cousin. It's always a good idea to provide your children with as many options as possible.

it means that if say you were booked in to a clinic in missouri for the procedure tomorrow you now can't go and have to try to find some way out of state right?

The assholes who wanted this have remained under the impression that the only people who are going to be affected by this are selfish bitches they don't know, who so rudely want more for themselves than a life of being barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen, who will be "cured" of this evil desire by being forced to give birth. They're going to find that they are very wrong.

An important thing to consider is that this is not just terrifying and dangerous for those seeking abortion care. They are not the only people who will be affected. The states that have these trigger laws, the states that will otherwise outlaw abortion? They're the states with the highest maternal mortality rates. They are the states with the biggest doctor shortages. It is already hard to get doctors to move to rural areas, in part because hospitals in those areas don't pay them enough to be able to pay off their exorbitant student loans. The vast majority of doctors are pro-choice, the majority of ob-gyns are pro-choice. It's going to be pretty fucking hard to get them to move to a place where they, their spouses, their children would have to forfeit their reproductive rights.

People are going to die as a result of this decision and that number will not be limited to those who need abortions.

unless they react they might as well hand the next election to trump

who do they expect to turn out and vote after today

no abortions, more guns

and the police are open to less scrutiny

40 years taken away

I've already told fundraisers that I won't be donating until they show some progress in the correct direction. If they ditch the current leadership, that would qualify and I let them know that.
