sim667

All aboard the 303 bus.
My dads exploring the possibility of getting a Mazda bongo, but was interested if they do them new anywhere?

We haven't been able to find anywhere that sells them new they all seem to be second hand..... Does anyone know at all?

He seems to think if they're available new it will be easier to get parts

Have you tried googling to see if there is a drivers forum or whatever?? I think han may have or have had one but it was an older one. Might be worth pming her.

http://www.bongoforum.co.uk might help.

They're all grey imports in this country, so you can't get parts from main dealers and have to rely on a few specialist suppliers. My mate waited 7 months for an alternator, but that was some time ago, I think it's easier now :D

You sure you want one?

The 'most downloaded info sheets from the form are...

UnderBonnet Fuse Layout Diesel up to Sept 01 (Free Mazda Bongo Information Sheets/Fuse Box Info Sheets)

What Is The Fuel Consumption Like?

Despite what dealers might say, the absolute best you will get is around 32 mpg. This is at 60 mph. You will average about 25 mpg, although a Bongo used around town may struggle to reach 22 mpg.

Are Parts Easy To Obtain?

There has not, as far as I know, been a single incident where a part could not be obtained. All service items and much more besides are available through the owners club, and there are at least 2 other specialist Bongo parts dealers. Failing that, original Mazda parts can be obtained from some Mazda dealers (but at a high price).

Where Is The Dipstick?

Under the passenger seat.<<<<WTF!!?!1!

Sounds like there are *problems* with it. :(

Ah that's what we were trying to work out.

We're basically looking for something that isnt overpriced, but is easy to service and get parts for....

Our other consideration is a converted toyota hiace as u can buy them over here.....

I had one until last year. Mine was a 4x4 with the lift up roof, fuel consumption meant it had to go.

I found it difficult to find anyone who would work on it, had to drive 20 miles everytime anything needed sorting.

Mind you I hate cars and they're one of those vehicles like a hobby where everyone else who has one expects you to wave.

http://www.bongofury.co.uk/ is the place to look to ask any questions or find pre-owned van that's been looked after.
