Masterchef: The Professionals

The two that went through last night was the right choice but was sorry to see one of the others leave.

Sitwell has gone totally OTT about vegan food; is he trying to make up for what he has said about vegetarians in the past?

My daughter ate a slug when she was about 9 months old. I got most of it off her - there was at least half left. She was very angry at being denied the foraged treat, so maybe they are a taste sensation.

Trying to talk to an ADHD person who has just said she can't do more thing at once, while she's cooking on national TV

My son suffers from this same condition. You don't get them to multi-task. One thing at a time.

Uncle Fester can cook
He's a potential winner.

Did anyone see tonight's? One of the more entertaining ones, I thought.

Very young looking lad amused me by being ever so slightly lairy, made a pig's ear of the chef test then completely turned it round.

I'm guessing now it's on the iPlayer in advance, we need spoilers or to follow the thread very carefully!

Watched that first thing this morning. Bless her. Clearly needed space and just had Gregg mouthing off.

They should have a year when scallops are banned. Yes, scallops are delicious. But you know what else? They're really easy to cook and you don't have to do much if anything to them to make them delicious. 'Oh these scallops are perfectly cooked.' Woopdeedoo, and here's a perfectly boiled egg and some perfectly toasted toast.

aren't they supposed to carry some kind of parasite that's bad for mammals?
This piqued my interest so I looked them up.

The answer is yes, but then so do snails. Like snails, they're safe if you cook them thoroughly. And by all accounts they are similar to snails in the eating. It is recommended that you split them open and remove the guts.

So if they were presented to me thoroughly cooked and swimming in butter and garlic, I'd give them a go. Sound like a right faff to prepare, though.

Our disgust reactions are funny things. I admit that I feel a certain resistance to the idea of eating slugs. But I have no problem whatever with eating mussels. Love them, don't mind how they look, their slight sliminess or anything about them. Just love them.

Angiostrongylus cantonensis, or rat lungworm, is the one that's known to be a risk for humans and that's only been detected in a few places in Europe and never in the UK.

People have also been infected by eating other foods like salad and shellfish in areas where it is present.
