Man United - the team that gets me excited? 2024-2026

A couple of digs at the media in Amorim's opening press conference. Not sure what questions he was responding to, or whether that was his style in Portugal?

There is a whole sparring thing with the press in Portugal media by coaches and managers particularly form the top three clubs about media bias, normally against whatever team the coach is from who is being interviewed. The UK football press over here has a little bit of a reputation for being anti-Portugal and critical of Portuguese players and managers, possibly the shadow of the treatment of Ronaldo. Amorim won't mind building a 'you are all against us mentality'. Mourinho did it very well.

Rashford doing a bit of cosplay at the Knicks game after being deemed a bit too shit to play for England anymore...

Rich man goes and does rich man things. All a bit depressing and probably not the best way to impress an incoming coach. Though Amorim himself is apparently one for expensive cars and stuff.

Just didn't turn up for years and club paid the fine didn't they?
Sporting fan I know has been saying they have an interesting approach with the media but won't take the kind of nonsense we have been getting from overpaid players, luckily a bunch of them have been moved on but theres more to go or change. Turned that right around there for anyone not earning their pay. Dalot does suit wing back well, CB's seem to need some extra cover so 3 makes sense in a 3-4-3 tho the wingbacks will need to work hard and the forwards plus multiple positions seems to be a thing. From the training video it seems they are having to be taught to get back before they are pressuring which is not a great surprise considering we failed at pressing and had a number of lazy sods not getting back. Hopefully Sancho is cleared out the way at least, would love to get Gyokeres and Diomanda and/or Inacio in, Evans has done surprisingly well but its not ideal and we need an established goal scorer.

He'll have a job to make that believable at Man Utd. The guy interviewing him before this game said how excited "everybody" is to see what he does, and the commentator said how excited the Ipswich fans were to bask in the "reflected lustre" of Man Utd coming to town with their sexy new manager.

"Oh yeah, they really hate us guys."

The first ten minutes of the commentary in their game on Sky resembled a Shakespearean eulogy .

Ipswich look better than United. He's going to have to seriously work the transfer market.

They have two quality players. Fernandes and the keeper. The rest are shit. I'd bench or sell Rashford.

Zirkzee (sp?) and Hojland look at best squad players, to be sure. Rashford can be great, but it's hard to know what's wrong with him, beyond a questionable attitude. Garnacho looks decent but not entirely consistent. Yeah, bit short up front, besides Bruno.

Something's gotta be done. I'm hoping the new boss is no-nonsense. I imagine Rashfords wage demands will be outlandish so he will be tough to offload. He's never really been that great anyway, let's face it. Will be very hard to find a buyer.

You're right, Garmarcho is quality. Wanna hang on to him.

Dalot, Fernandes (?) and Ugarete all worked worked under him before/in this tactic, it's his first match and their first attempt at real tactics with an actual plan in years. Dudes a proper coach and won't tolerate nonsense we have had before with over paid players. We also have injuries and multiple first teamers not up to scratch yet. Spoken a lot to the sporting fan and I get the tactics. We could do with a Gyokeres to put the all in the net however. I expect a severe cutting of players at end of season. If we could get him and Diomandes/Inacio it would help considerably. We need to score more and that has not been our strength for some time. May see some surprisingly cuts made and dead wood dumped like its FM2024. Rashford should be a left sided attacker and doesn't work a no 9. Regardless of scoring. Hjolund needs an example, getting Gyokeres would be a huge signing. He knows the system and makes the runs. Zirkhere and other can go, he didn't just turn around sportings football but also the finances. Has no money and one way tp help that is shifting overpaid idiots not getting their moneys worth. Sancho should be gone at least, more to go, need a solid striker. Inside 10s mean space for Fernandes and maybe even Mount, Cas/Ugarte and Mainoo should boss midfield when fit. Dalot in def, Ugarate and Fernandes make mid and forwards expectatrions known and he doesn't muck about with players not playing well. With everyone fit and not exhausted from international I can see it going well and he wants to score goals.

Rashford performs well about 1 season in 3. Good enough for the club to never quite get rid.

Also homegrown is a huge thing based entirely on FM games, its a huge hassle to lose someone grown at the club. Not sure what Uniteds stats are currently but I have hit it multiple times a year.

I’d wait a few more games until axing half the squad. Amorim is not used to ‘big’ signings and tbf Man Utd’s record on this could do with a bit more value for money / future prospect type signings. When Sporting have sold players a large amount goes to the banks , same as the other two top clubs and they either develop players through the academy or rely on Sportings excellent scouting assessments on bargain buys .He will be expected to improve players in the squad.

That explains why they're so weird about Silva.

There's some bloke playing in Saudi Arabia who's been banging in the goals for club and country. Speaks Portuguese too.
