Man United - the team that gets me excited? 2024-2026

Another season, new signings, same old injuries...

Yoro out for 3 months. Hojlund out for a month or so. Rashford... broken.

But, we have Kobbie and Amad.

For the season to be a success we need to be challenging for the title, playing consistently well, and not getting turned over by noddy small teams. We shall see.

Just thought I'd look to see if there was a United thread for this year. No point really, this season is a re-run of the last one though, to be fair, they've managed to get to a negative goal difference even earlier this year.

For old time's sake I've updated the title.

Ah well, at least kids in the DRC and South Pacific Islands won't be going short of donated second hand shirts.

You really did only sing when you were winning.

I do think it’s funny that as the usual suspects like fans of Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea get a bit giddy, it is forgotten that we did win the League Cup in his first year - no laughing - and the FA Cup last year, which is more than any of them have won in the same period (0).

You're doing fucking great :D

I keep forgetting about Yoro, then again I was confused about McTominay playing for Napoli the other day, they haven't made it much of a season to watch so far.

Sancho - what happened there?
City said no, did very well at Dortmund with Haaland to provide to and distract players, did badly at United under multiple managers with varying front lines, went back to Dortmund and did nothing very impressive there, now at Chelsea and scored a goal. Tho his stats outside of the goal and assists aren't great, mostly passing backwards or sideways, still not defending at all, pass accuracy isn't anything to talk about nor is his duels. Goals and assists looks good admittedly, they did too at Dortmund the first time with Haaland there, all three assists were to their top scorers so far in the team with the most goals scored in the league, those players being ranked 2nd, joint 5th and joint 9th in the top scorers list and on fantastic form. Impressive none the less it did equal a record after all. Does seem unless everyone else is on fire he fizzles tho.

But this is the dream for me. An out-and-out crisis leads to real change whereas picking up the odd trophy just keeps the constant sub-crisis level of woe going forever.

I know what you mean but nothing major changes unless the Glazers go and they’re ownership/income seems to now be almost entirely detached from matters on the field.

Regardless, these Ineos guys supposedly control the football side, we do spend money, and we should be playing consistently better football than we have been this season. Unfortunately for ETH the level of scrutiny at United is still much higher than pretty much anywhere else so a few bad results and everyone is on his case. But that’s the job. I imagine he’ll be gone after the next two games.

Thanks for the reply. I’m a mean Liverpool fan so nice of you to engage like that.
United seem to be where Liverpool were in the 90s/00s. A mess of players in/out, a load of managers and no trophies. Thankfully you haven’t had a successful period to match ours since!

Oooh 1 nil. Get in

United have not been a successful club for most of their history so the Ferguson aberration being over, you’ve just gone back to normal. Even with Ferguson you never really cracked Europe as he was too tacitically weak to cope with top-level football.
