Male model strong looks

I don't know. Because it's more enjoyable for them to pretend that those pieces are being suggested for the high street? It makes the joke work better?
My enjoyment is independent from the idea that anybody else will ever be wearing any of these clothes, ever.

Can anyone explain this one?

Well yes, and some of those statement pieces make others laugh. The one I quoted for example...it was the long shirt sleeves that tickled me. Their annoying impracticalness made me laugh. Also the puffer jacket I posted. I just imagine trying to get through doorways on that or on the train. :D
that puffer might be real though  i saw a picture (on urban) of a couple of US popstars in similiar oversized puffers. cant remember who now

Yes I know, I remember the pics. The oversized jumpers too. Good luck to them...I just imagine walking out of the house, on the train or into work wearing either and crack up. Conversation pieces for sure. :D

The "cultural rules" for menswear are restrictive. They haven't always been (look at the Regency), but for whatever reason, we've had about two hundred years of men being socially controlled into wearing a very narrow choice of clothes.

Things as simple as trouser lengths or a vest top having a brightly coloured print are being mocked. Contrast that to women's clothing and its just really weird. People with socially progressive views taking the piss out of cropped trousers.

And yes there's been some high fashion runway whackiness. The white frilly shorts and top worn with black frilly knee boots was my personal stand out. But firstly - would it be so wild in a womenswear show? And secondly - as has been said, that stuff is an important part of how high street menswear will evolve.

Its verging on the impracticality of the robes of royalty - im clearly so rich and surrounded by (effectively) servants, that it doesnt matter how impractical my clothes are...seems to me it signals that

But it's not been made for that. It's like looking at an art installation and laughing about not being able to get a small version to hang on your wall.

Well no, as some of those clothes have been and are worn away from the catwalk shows.

If the statement being made is over the top and fun I think it's okay to find it funny.

there were rules at one point. I think restoration but either I cant google or my memory is faulty. Certain classes of men and women allowed only so much amount of lace or ribbon, buckle sizes etc.

read it ages ago but it must be restoration, newly empowered booj and p/b being restricted by their nervous yet back in business betters.

Do you laugh at people in public based on their choice of outfit, then?

I've got an oversized jumper. Would you find it funny if I got on the tube wearing it?

You know the answer to both of those questions is no. I am pretty sure your oversized clothing is nothing as over the top as those pieces also.

Almost all catwalk stuff is utterly bonkers & impractical. I've always thought it's more about art than fashion. For me, fashion has to be practical. And cheap. Preferably beige.
