rick owens make nice things. it's actually in the sale too

One of the greatest designers of all time. Avant-garde fashion is very much one of my things (though Urban definetly isn't the place for discussions on it! ha). I probably have more Rick items than any other designer (Ann, Yohji, Comme etc)

love engineered garments because they're not wilfully wacky, and they have such a range of different styles but still indentifiable as theirs. i think Daiki Suzuki is a bit of an unsung hero in the fashion world

Been trying to get hold of one of these for ages,

contrasted with this, where you can feel the weight of the texture of the material. Would/could i wear it? Probably not but i think it's a masterful bit of tailoring

Why isn't urban the place? I'd be well up for a discussion on that, and i reckon there's a few others too... there'll be the usual guffawing twats to put up with, but i don't think it really matters what they think.

It would be interesting to sort the sheep from the goats.

I'm not sure about that - while I like and enjoy talking about men's fashion, I totally understand why other people might prioritise other things, or think it decadent and pretentious. It is decadent and pretentious after all.

It is indeed. But I would like to understand peoples reasoning behind what is just pretension and what has more about it. I refer to my earlier comment re celebs 'collections' - for example can you compare the works of Victoria Beckham (some nice things but can she sew/cut, how much is her creativity) and the late Alexander McQueen who was a tailor and has the skills plus the creativity? I just wonder how people assess what falls into the fashion/art box and what does not. I think that is where the interesting bit is rather than 'cute model'.

Oh, ok. Yeah, that would be interesting.

Surely almost all established designer collections will be group efforts now? Alexander McQueen is still knocking out exciting avant-garde fashion seven years after his death, so he presumably has less oversight of his designs than even Victoria Beckham (I agree she has some nice threads fwiw).

So, do like, people have to wear Pampers at these fashion show things then ? And how much open laughing and pointing is there ?

Being fair, they massively exaggerate the features of their intended designs for effect.
So, as far as I understand, this would be a statement of the designers intent about colour, exposed cuffs, lapels and detailing for their next season's designs.

It's like they take their actual designs and think "How would Vic Reeves describe this?".

I think...

Maybe then it would be worth starting a thread then?

I associate U75 with politics - it's what I come here to read about and post on. Fashion I go to stylezeitgeist and FUK

I saw someone wearing something very similar to this in Siem Reap in Cambodia a few weeks ago, he looked fabulous and he knew it. Then in Hong Kong airport I saw another couple of blokes wearing similar and they too looked amazing. I think a lot of fashion is about how confident one is wearing it.
