I'm sure many of you have a P&S (prolly Cheese & Broccoli) tucked away at the back of the cupboard for emergencies as I usually do, but hear me out... In the last year or so, their range has doubled, and most of it is garbage; I've tried their pesto and their arrabiata, both which went straight in the bin after one of two fork-fulls. Truely awful. This, however, I do declare, is fucking delicious. It doesn't taste remotely of spinach or ricotta, but is, instead, orecchiette (which seemingly works remarkably well as a quick cook pasta, better than any of the alternatives apparently) with a medium cheese herby sauce. I was making some marinara pasta sauce this afternoon for use during the week: onions fried, blended along with plum tomatoes, garlic and chilli, all strained, basil and parsley added, reduced down to almost jam-like consistency. At the same time I was cooking this dried ready meal in a milkpan. Which did I desire more?
I might go as far as to say this rivals bacon flavour Super Noodles as my favourite amongst their offerings (and I waited twenty years for those to be vegetarian). Thumbs up - see
Toasted left-over bread, hummus and the rest of the block of tofu I bought yesterday because I have no fridge.
So I've had most of my 1500kcals for today so I will only have a few bits of fruit for tea.
I have so gone off food and am losing the fear of not stuffing my face at 7pm in preparation for cycling the next day.
Got a multiseed loaf from Lidl and had the end and a slice with philadelphia cheese, lettuce and coleslaw on top.
Very nice.
Followed by a vanilla chai tea.
Mackrel and salad with some roasted chickpeas. Sounds silly, but I'm still learning how to make salads or at least the dressings, what keeps, what doesn't.
Leftover chickpea soupy stuff from last night with mung sprouts stirred-in at the end - served with the usual tahini.
I was wanting to know if I could use mung sprouts like that and it has been confirmed.
I'm in the process of ramping up my sprout and microgreen production and often end up with shoots that are a bit too far gone for salad.
Been into town to a Lebanese place for lunch with family. We were only planning something light so I ordered a chicken shish wrap. They fucked up the order though and sent us our stuff plus a load of extra mezze, so I’m stuffed now! It was very nice though and I probably won’t need any tea
A lovely mix of salad leaves with really finely sliced Irish angus roast beef dressed in a home made salad dressing.
I'm delighted with the dressing. Made it from fish sauce, finely chopped garlic, chilli pepper, white wine, black pepper, fresh lime juice and a teeny bit of honey.
210g tin of pink salmon and a mixed salad box from the Co op. Trying to not eat carbs at lunch for a little while, see if I can shift my ginormous kench*
Broke a long and arduous drive back from Grimsby at a lovely pub in Cardington - The King's Arms, highly recommend. I had king prawn, crab and chorizo linguine and it was delicious. The kids had pizza, which also seemed great.
I just had what I think is the last beef I'll ever eat. I met mdk1 for a burger at atomic burger. I just did not enjoy it that much and thought I was gonna heave after. My body does not like it. I'm lying here and my tummy is in knots.
