Hi all,

My name is Gabriel and I am a play worker at the Triangle Adventure Playground.

We are London's oldest adventure playground, founded in 1957 and situated in Oval South London. We are open 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year and have more than 1,000 active registered young people of which on average 54 young people attend Triangle each day.

Our core ethos is free adventure play for ages 6 - 18 years old. Free play, swings and structures, building, arts and crafts, cooking, gardening, sports and trips are just some of the many activities we offer. Lambeth is one of the lowest ranked boroughs in London regarding child poverty, obesity and deprivation and the vital role we play within our local community both for young people and their parents alike cannot be underestimated.

Do check out our website to discover much more information about Triangle and the importance of adventure play. Here is our funders page which includes extracts from an independent report which evaluates our services and contribution to the area as well as an infographic about Triangle. You can see a prior video made by the young people here which helped us win Playground of the Year 2012.

As things stand we are in very urgent need of raising funds and so we are keen to spread the word and encourage new funders and sponsors to come forward.

In essence would anyone be interested in donating or helping to raise awareness? I think our unique position in London history would work well with London's top forum and could really help make a difference to our fundraising efforts.

Many thanks for your time
Gabriel

I've moved this to this Brixton forum where it'll be seen by a lot more local people, and I'll tweet it via the urban75/Brixton Buzz accounts.

I am one if the people who have been trying to stop the Council sell of Grove APG more info on this thread,

Loughborough Junction Masterplan (presentation 14/17 September)

Looks like the Council may look at proposal from community to run it. The APGs in Lambeth did get some Council support. I take it that yours is now one that has to depend totally on fundraising?

My problem is that different APGs in Lambeth will be competing for private funding.

It's a political issue. So called "austerity", which is in fact about hammering the less well off whilst the City of London is bailed out, is leading to the gradual closure of important facilities for young people.

many thanks Editor, your help is appreciated!
