Lets all go hunting. In Epping Forest?

One autumn evening, deep in Epping Forest, in amongst a bunch of trees, I found a single child's shoe. It was in good condition and couldn't have been there too long. It seemed very out of place and I wondered what to do about it ..

I'm still not sure what all the outrage was about here. This last article just seems to signify even more confusion on the part of the public. All the animals they eat are disembowelled. Unless you are vegetarian (or even vegan) getting on your high horse about it seems pretty weird. Also people don't seem to understand the deer would have been shot anyway - it was just put out to a sporting club. It makes no difference to the deer who shoots them. I guess people have a low level of knowledge about UK ecosystems, how severely degraded they are by farming and other human management, and how due to humans killing all their predators, too many deer are the biggest threat to what remains of the forests.

To whoever said above they weren't sure about lynx reintroduction, here is some info Lynx UK Trust, conservationists working to reintroduce Eurasian lynx to the British Isles
Monbiot mentions them in his rewilding book as potentially a better candidate for reintroduction than the wolf, because people don't have irrational fears about them, and they kill less sheep.

Saw an inspiring sight last night. Parked the car and in front of me did I see a deer running up the road toward me? Yes I did, quite youngish, perhaps an 8 - 10 pointer stag, ran towards me, past me and up the road behind me.

It is the rut at the moment so perhaps he had lost a fight and been banished from that part of the forest. I checked later and it seems he made it back into the woods.

Good to see.
