He wasn’t the statutory Deputy Mayor but I suppose it is possible that he was secretly appointed as another one during this period or maybe even retrospectively awarded the title for reasons we could only speculate about.

He can self-describe as much as he pleases if he thinks that the targets of his delusions are sufficiently gullible to be incapable of questioning this nonsense. Do you think that anyone at the events where he now appears would question his version of his activities?

Alarmingly, this thread, which raises legitimate issues around his behaviour, is already being diverted so as to mask his past - and current - behaviours.

I'm a bit concerned about this thread. While Lee is a public figure, he's also a contributing member to this forum and as such, this thread clearly falls foul of the 'call out thread' rules, although there are legitimate questions being raised. He also does not post under his real name (although I'm not sure if that is intentional or not).

It is a tricky one, so I shall ask the mods for guidance on this.

It's not a call-out thread because it is about a public figure and claims they have made publicly.

It is not even posted with the u75 username of the person we are taking in good faith to be that of the public figure in question in the title. That the OP tags them in is surely a courtesy.

He hasn't made those claims here though and that's what I'm uncomfortable about. I wouldn't like a thread being started about me over something I said elsewhere, and I doubt if you would either.

But I'm not going to argue the matter further because it's not a huge issue. I've just given the reasons for my discomfort and will leave it to the other mods to decide.

TBF it was a Mod who essentially confirmed the link between the u75 account and the acknowledged Twitter account when the former first appeared; the user has also always responded to being addressed by the name of the public figure; and has made autobiographical statements consistent with those made by the public figure.

I initially thought that it wasn't him when the thread turned up, but the @LeeJasper account on Twitter (which I understand is real) also linked to this via the thread tweet button

It's a bit of a call out thread but I reckon aide/deputy is interchangeable, however it gives the impression he was the singular deputy not in a team.

I think the impression given by aide and deputy is totally different tbh. I'd expect a deputy to be another elected official and an aide to be a hired position. Seems like they're not using it like that though.

I'm sure that he will be overwhelmed with gratitude that what was no doubt an entirely innocent error on his part in inaccurately recording his professional credentials in various personal promotional material has been identified, and that he will update them in swift order so that no one could accuse him of misrepresentation or overstating his experience

Although Lee Jasper was never a "Deputy Mayor" of London (or anywhere else), there is now an abundance of officials whose job titles now include those words.

The first 'black' person to hold such a title was probably this man.
