Just watched the new Tron Legacy in 3D

Haven't seen Avatar (which was remarked upon today!!) but from clips it didn't look so obvious, as it's not a naturalistic scenerio, itms.

The question will be "was it filmed in 3d or does it contain so much CGI that would could re render it in 3d and it would look ok?" That seems to be the dividing line between shit and not shit.

They're really making a mistake by 3ding films which weren't filmed that way IMO - there are going to be loads of people who, say, haven't seen Avatar but have seen Clash Of The Titans, and think 3d is just something that makes films look worse than they would flat, and you also have to wear annoying glasses the whole time. You don't *need* 3d to have a blockbuster yet.

Blimey. I enjoyed your thread wookey. Don't pay attention to all these grumpy bastards. They're just jealous.

Funnily enough, the director of Prince of Persia (Sand of Whatever) said he could have sent his film to a garage in Seoul and got it back three weeks later in 3D, and that's something he didn't want to do.

As I say, he opened that section by referring to "those glasses films - what are they called?"

And had 300 people shouting: "3D!" at him.:D

The Tron marketing machine will be huge though; they're talking theme park rides, TV versions, graphic novels, MMOG, video games - it will be the aesthetic of early 2011.

They've said the same the last time around... and cut out most of it when the film wouldn't be the cash cow Disney expected. I think the franchise made more money with the arcades than at the box office.

A part of me really wants to see the movie. the other part thinks this will be even more dumbified than the first.

you can't really be bragging about seeing an advance screening of prince of persia can you? i mean, it's a bit shit, isn't it?

Course it's shit, that's why I put Tron in the thread title to enveigle the Barry Normans of Urban inside!

You have a good memory Silva!

They really are throwing everything at this one, it seems - judging from the reaction of the young lady I was with it might just work, she didn't have the baggage of the first version like I have - seeing what was the future kinda ageing before your eyes.

prince of persia may be shit but that's not what i'm saying. i'm saying that showing off about going to an advance screening of it is a bit shit.

Oh come on...it's the Film forum ffs.

However - posting about it in a Tron thread....that's shit. :p

that's odd. respecting people for being vapid.

I read all about you and your private Sharlene Spiteri concert, both before and after the actual concert. I quite enjoyed hearing all about it. Because I'm a nice person who likes watching other people live happy lives.
