Female pundits set for star roles as BBC and ITV battle for World Cup ratings
Well the good news is that Michael Owen, Robbie Savage, Andy Townsend, Phil Neville all seem to be missing from the studios. Bad news is that smug millionaire property developer Gary Neville is on ITV. At least the women footballers break up the ex player old boy school but I'd like to see more journalists and non explayers on these panels . I'll watch quite a few games in the Portuguese bars where due to my poor Portuguese I'll be spared their panels observations otherwise , depending on the fixtures, I'll prob watch BBC or see what the Canadian and American channels have to offer.

Meh - okay in the BBC studio.. Linekar is always slightly too self-referential for my liking.

As mentioned over on the Spain vs Portugal thread - I love Rio as a pundit.
I was apprehensive when he showed up in Brazil and thought he'd mug himself off there. Nope, was great, just gets better.
I think the panel tonight of Rio, Shearer and Fabregas headed up by Lineker was spot on (although I like Ian Wright too)

The American channels are fucking awful. Avoid if you can.

I haven't actually been able to hear most of the punditry (a blessing, some might say...) as I've mostly been watching at work on mute or in a loud bar, but BBC usually have the better of this.

Going on past performance, Jermain Jenas is usually pretty good.

I still don't understand why they don't produce an in-depth show later in the day/week. They've got the rights to the footage and would surely be relatively inexpensive to get some people with real insight, who aren't just 'names', to do a proper deep dive into tactics and why particular things happened.

is it me or it this one of those pictures where they've edited people heads onto different bodies?

I miss a light-hearted World Cup football programme (unless there is one and i haven't noticed)

Fantasy Football was the high water mark, but last WC but one that cunt Cordon had one, and although he's annoying, at least it was something.

Any decent podcasts?

What the thundering fuck. Watching online, and just discovered if you mute the ads, it automatically unmutes each time the ad changes?!

This is ferocious bullshit!

Just a shame the other smug millionaire pusher of rubbish food to kids Lineker is still on it.
Neville is by far the best pundit on tv.

It must be bizarre watching this world cup on USA tv if my experiences are anything to go by. I watched the Olympics in USA once, if the athlete wasnt american they weren't interested, cue coverage of a runner coming in third, with no idea who had won!

Watched a few on Chinese telly and it is so unremittingly dire, barely a step up from the gobshite behind you on a terrace shouting nonsense the whole game. Even ITV's line-up is preferable.

what makes him the best pundit ?

Talks very clear
Very insightful
He has a good manner and puts it over well
His played at the highest level so knows what he is talking about.
Why have you mentioned his a millionaire and he is in the property game ?
Cant see what that has to do with anything about his ability as a pundit.
At least he dont promote food that makes kids obese and makes him even richer like some other Millionaires.
Most agree his one of the best if not thee best, even Liverpool fans that hate him have said so .

I normally watch a 3 o'clock game on TSN the Canadian channel or the US channels Fox/NBC/ESPN etc think the commentary and half time panels are ok tbh
