Is America burning? (Black Lives Matter protests, civil unrest and riots 2020)

I'm simply saying the rioters want publicity. I don't think they see the TV schedule as a constraint at all. They see it as an opportunity. And that 100 -200 figure is accurate.
What do you want? What are you trying to do here? It seems to me you want publicity for your worthless views and are ready to spout any auld shit regardless of its relationship to the actualité as long as it provokes a response

It’s only an opportunity if you constrain your actions to fulfil the opportunity, which makes it a constraint. One you think that 100-200 people fighting against an entire government apparatus are capable of accepting.

You’re into full-on reality-denial paranoid conspiraloon territory, Tom. There is no logic whatsoever to your thoughts. It’s like believing in Marvel superheroes. Go read some of the wealth of academic literature about riots. (I recommend Mad Mobs and Englishmen as a good start, which is available from e-libraries). They simply don’t happen if there are just a few hundred people who want to create mischief. Riots need common identity amongst very large groups in order to sustain themselves.

What do I want? Someone asked the question as to why the protests happen at night. I gave my opinion. I don't think stating my opinions here gets much publicity.

from where?
You are asking about the 100 -200 figure? It comes from news reports night after night. It also comes from my personal observations. I have been at locations where riots happen, or will happen later that night. That number looks accurate to me.

did you actually count the participants?

Do you go there to observe, take part or ... something else?

As I have said before these rioters/anarchists attach themselves to large protests that start out peaceful. They then attempt (in this case successfully) to hijack the protest into rioting. I've observed this process for years in Portland. I participated in a huge peaceful protest against the Iraq war downtown. The same thing happened. 100 - 200 rioters smashed windows, blocked intersetions and provoked a fight with the cops. This isn't conspiraloonery. It's what I've observed,

How do you know this is what is happening? Either you are very good at mind reading of protesters, or you have access to information confirming what you are claiming...or you're surmising things and then declaring them as fact.

Strikes in the MLS, MLB and NBA fixtures

The sports boycott does seem to be spreading.

The sporting boycott began with basketball as the NBA postponed Wednesday's three play-off games after the Milwaukee Bucks called off their fixture in protest. In baseball, three MLB [soccer] games were called off after teams decided not to play, and five MLS matches have been postponed.

Tennis player Naomi Osaka pulled out of a WTA match on Thursday with a strong statement saying there were more important things to deal with than watching her play tennis. Organisers of the Cincinnati event later postponed all matches on Thursday in support of the campaign "against racial inequality and social injustice."

A point backed up by Kamara: "It's not about soccer or basketball or the rest." "And we have to follow also the NBA players who are standing in solidarity."

You're saying this based only on your personal observations, which are massively influenced by your prior beliefs. It flies in the face of all actual research and systematic observation. And I recognise that ideological beliefs tend to harden rather than change in the face of evidence, so I don’t expect to change your mind. But to anybody else reading this, I would say: remember that this is the observation of somebody seeing what he expects to see. There is no way he can actually personally observe the behaviour of thousands of people across multiple square miles. Look at academic research conducted by systematically compiling evidence, not the beliefs of a hardcore pro-government ideologue

If 100-200 rioters smashed things just where you were observing, don’t you think actual participation in rioting across the much larger affected area would be greater than this? And over 89 days that it might involve different people at different times? Just try to step back from your prior beliefs that are colouring your short-range resolution and see the whole.
