Is America burning? (Black Lives Matter protests, civil unrest and riots 2020)

My local town has a small (but decent for a small town) protest still going on. Went down earlier with a neighbour and her (black) dog called Haggis who got a couple of personalised chants :D

All very civil and very few poolice about. To be honest most the graffiti and general ill will is focusing on the Tories and the greedy which is kind of the root cause :hmm:

The same department that did ^this, also did this:

I've said before that it is a deliberate police tactic to pretend to be your friends and then suddenly switch to arresting or attacking you. I've seen it myself and I know a lot of other people have.

I expect there is some study somewhere that says that the psychological shock will deter people in the future. I think it does deter some people but others just learn never to trust the pigs, so in the long term it is probably counter productive for them, like, uh, quite a lot of what they're doing now.

Well I say "counter productive" but that depends on what your goal is really. If the idea is to have a paramilitary force that is feared and mistrusted so can rule through intimidation, it's fine, and in line with lots of other policies, like impunity for random violence, corruption etc. But that clearly builds up opposition. As we see.

I think rioting is exactly what the police want, and what Trump wants.

At the very least, you shouldn't allow yourself to be used for a photo-op unless you're getting something real and worth the price in return.

Ridiculous, i will send it to my relative who has spent every friday(and more) dodging spittle during the C18 crisis, and needles etc, other times.

I don’t know, use a different browser or click on the people talking about but and go straight to twitter
Yes Thank You. I clicked on the feed box outside of the video and it opened in twitter. It would make a great tune. Can we get this to number one :) It kind of reminded me of the old rinky dink you used to see at festivals.
Thank you

My mum used to go out with an ex-filth (he was a right spiteful nasty cunt) who policed the race riots in the early to mid 80s in London. He told me the police fucking love a riot - especially back then before everything was filmed. A real chance for them to break some heads without a hint of a reprimand (not that they would be pulled up for doing it anyway back then).
I suppose it's like the buzz football hooligans get.

Yes that rings true, that they love a bit of 'aggro' is part of the appeal of the job I expect. Beyond that though, in America, they are looking for an opportunity to keep the status quo that the protests are addressing by delegitimising these protests.

Chicago's ABC7 shows film of 21 white people holding pistols and rifles intimidating BLM marchers as they pass by during a protest in Crown Point, Indiana (just to the east of the border with Illinois), and for some reason blurs their faces.

The station's tweet almost immediately prompts others to post the unblurred footage:
