Is America burning? (Black Lives Matter protests, civil unrest and riots 2020)

could you share your source/s, as i'm not finding three killings at peaceful protests?
There was David McAtee in Louisville which I think was reported on this thread and then that one this morning/last night in California - the young man who was on his knees with his hands up. I’m sure there was another one but this news cycle is happening so fast, I’ve forgotten the details

i think we're talking at cross purposes because i'm talking about peaceful protests like outside the white house - your common or garden demonstration. the sort of thing we're used to seeing on whitehall and so on. i'm not talking about the other awful killings like sean monterrosa California: Vallejo police kill unarmed 22-year-old, who was on his knees with his hands up

I thought they were both protesting?
what i took from humberto's post was that he was talking about peaceful, legitimate, generally wholly ineffective protests, the sort of thing where people march from a to b and then go home or stand outside a government building for a while. the sort of thing the first amendment covers.

like having the police shoot someone on a mayday march

Yes, I meant at a protest, but there seems to be a hyper vigilence to any kind of gathering in some parts.

Seriously. What the fuck?

Lots of people getting run over.

Did anyone else see the memorial service for George Floyd shown on TV yesterday? Very moving, also very sad and motivating. At the end they all stood silently for 8 minutes 40 odd seconds, the length of time George Floyd had been under the police mans knee before they released him dead.

Just seen that someone was raided the other night at 3am, not shown a warrant, not allowed to record and in court by 9am. Way forward for prosecutions?

End sales now FFS

Pressure is growing on ministers to suspend the export of British riot gear, tear gas, and rubber bullets to the United States in light of a violent police crackdown against peaceful civil rights protesters in the country.

166 MPs from every major party in the Commons, including Boris Johnson's own, have written to the international trade secretary Liz Truss calling for an immediate end to exports while an investigation takes place.

Meanwhile nearly half a million people have signed a petition on the issue in just a few days backing the call to end sales.
