Is America burning? (Black Lives Matter protests, civil unrest and riots 2020)

Agreed, the level of police brutality in America is unbelievable. I hope GF’s murder isn’t in vain and serious reforms come into place.
I think its worth saying that racist policing, police brutality in general, militarisation of policing, and also the police's direct attacking of journalists, are absolutely issues to which antifascists have direct reason to be involved in protesting.

I deeply dislike the ambulance-chasing, issue-hijacking, bandwagon-jumping that can occasionally be done crudely and somewhat cynically by groups on the wider left - which is not to dismiss wider solidarity support, which should always be welcomed.
But the idea anti-fascist individuals have no place here is wrong.

As to tactics of protest, including damaging private property, that is a different discussion, separate from this one. People come down differently on that issue across the political spectrum.

I have had the boring little cunt on ignore for a few months now. Does make understanding some threads difficult though.
of course, me too - which is why the replies are frankly the worst thing about it. anyway, he's gone now for a bit so lets forget about him.

There is a wide variety of people on these protests, but of course there are plenty of middle class leftists, anti-fa, etc, they wouldn't be what they are described as if they weren't there, and yes, some will have certain skills, etc to help mobilise, though of course it is BLM, who are the key agents.

This is an interesting post

The trouble with the take it to the polls and vote thing is that it's Trump vs Biden (one alleged creepy sex pest against another alleged creepy sex pest). Also, Biden doesn't believe in marijuana legalisation. The war on drugs is the biggest tool the govt has in harassing black men, sweeping them off the streets and sticking them in private prisons.
