Is America burning? (Black Lives Matter protests, civil unrest and riots 2020)

Either way will result in a shitshow of some sort. Though his getting off will result in the greater shitshow by far...

How does ANY police officer seriously expect suspects to be co-operative, when the greatest threat to their welfare is...that police officer?

The thing that I notice in that video is you have two cops giving different orders. You can't obey orders from the police that are contradictory.

I had to look this up because it explains some of the common mistakes cops make when they aren't trained to understand how people respond under stress:

Some day I'd like to see this man's full resume.

He's great isn't he. I rarely watch people talking on videos because the ratio of information received over time taken is so low, but every one of his I've seen has been spot on.

Hadn't realized that he used to train police - the sort of person who should be doing that and very revealing that he won't do it any more and counsels against showing that video to police because it will "make them angry". And advises one serving officer not to push for reform in his department because he'll just be out of a job, instead to get someone outside the department to do it. That's one fucked up police force from someone who knows.

I was incidentally confused about his story about the 'vet' with PTSD, I was wondering why a vet would necessarily get PTSD until I realized half way through

Oh fucking yeah, Floyd was so goddamn superhuman when he was lying face down, in cuffs, with a fucking pig kneeling on his neck. He was so superhuman that he FUCKING DIED.

If I were a member of the jury, I would be furious with that defence lawyer cunt for insulting my intelligence so badly.

But of course if you're one of them good ol' boys selected by the lawyer because you give every appearance of being willing to go along with whatever racist bullshit, then you're not going to care about having your intelligence grievously besmirched by some smug white cunt in a suit.

The (additional) tragedy is that stuff like this is going to massively up the ante post-case, and effectively entrenched the divisions that this is all about. Still, I suppose the cunt has to get a fair trial, which is more than he let Floyd have.

The attempt to appeal to the perceived racial prejudices of the jury just seems so ridiculously obvious to me. And it keeps happening, so the slimy cunts trying it on must think that it works.

I know that it's the job of a lawyer to defend their client, but when you have to resort to playing on the bigotry of the general population, then that just goes to show how fucking weak the case for the defence fundamentally is.

They don't THINK it works; they KNOW it works. And even if it doesn't get their man off the hook, it helps perpetuate the myths that keep this sort of thing happening.

That Army Lieutenant that got pulled just goes to show that even the abject fetishisation of the military in the US isn't enough to override the essentially racist assumptions that are embedded in policing.

And I can't see how that is going to change without a root and branch revolution in policing.

Which is equally true for British policing, only with fewer guns.

The defence has to use every legal avenue when defending their client. They only need to convince a single juror that there is reasonable doubt. That is the system.

I think the police are morally culpable, but proving it is very difficult, as it should be.

Being as when cops shoot people deliberately they seem to empty their magazines and only a single shot fired here I wonder if the mistake thing's true. But the top cop does rather undermine it by saying the taser on her weak side, and the weight thing and the feel... Either way she should be looking at time inside
New York Post is a filthy cop-loving rag and even they're saying there's huge holes in it:
And from NBC:

It tits me off quite unreasonably when the boot boys (and girls) of the State suddenly go all weak, scared, and full-on snowflake if they think it'll get them off the hook. FFS, have the courage of your convictions: if you're a racist cop, or you work in a racist police force, at least stick to your principles and admit you shot someone because they were black, not because you got all flustered and pulled the wrong weapon, or were that scared of the scary black person that you couldn't help yourself. That's just fucking pathetic.

The top cop said he thought she believed she was deploying a taser then cast doubt on it by saying taser on her weak side. now all doubt's fled

Marvel appears to have inspired the George Floyd killers defence
Come to think of it, this is far from the first time US cops have had to deal with supernatural creatures, let's not forget Darren Wilson's testimony in the Michael Brown case: Why Darren Wilson Said He Killed Michael Brown
"And when I grabbed him, the only way I can describe it is I felt like a five-year-old holding onto Hulk Hogan," Wilson said of his struggle with Brown. "That's just how big he felt and how small I felt just from grasping his arm." Wilson told grand jurors that when he and Brown struggled over the officer's gun, Brown "had the most intense aggressive face. The only way I can describe it, it looks like a demon, that’s how angry he looked."
... "At this point it looked like he was almost bulking up to run through the shots, like it was making him mad that I'm shooting at him," Wilson said.

If this cunt gets off obviously all hell will break loose. It is obvious to everyone that the police need root and branch reform, one possible way to push it is to refuse to convict black defendants. It's how we got rid of the Bloody Code and would give the US the impetus to do something beyond mealy words...
