Ireland - newcomers and the far right

this is from right wing wankers more than a fight against poverty

make Dubliners look like a shower of cunts mind
No doubt but not everyone rioting is a right wing cunt. Some get swept up in the situation some are opportunists to do some looting.
It’s gonna be a little more complex than the whole of the Irish fash having drinks celebrating the Dutch election results and then organising a riot.

That's on O'Connell St, I can't imagine there would be many refugees housed there. Just loads of terrified tourists.

And no, obviously neither is a desirable situation.

Watched this vid last week which shows a bit of what Dublin is like these days. Depressing reading the comments on it, had hoped that the Irish were less racist these days than when I used spend time over there in the 80s/90s.

Gardaí are starting to get stuck in now from a video I just saw, far right account so won't post.

Stable fucking door...

In my (limited) experience it has gone from clueless ignorant racism(literally getting asked what it's like living around black people) to being a more active if mostly banal racism.

Always some wierd shit. Freind of the family got married to a Chinese woman. They didn't want the people wearing traditional Chinese clothing in the church. Had to be suits. Didn't seem to mind not being Catholic but yknow suits!

This is out on the West Coast mostly about 20 years ago.

We had fash back in the 80s, dropping racist fliers into record stores. It was low key and (suspected) to be mostly lone wolf weirdos involved. It becomes focused in the 90s with the likes of Áine Ni Chonnail and the Immigration Control Platform and now it's much more widespread.

It's certainly not banal with the protests at refugee hostels, makeshift camps being targeted and random attacks on people.

A friend of mine was badly beaten some years back, she could have been killed. Such racist attacks and incidents may be carried out by a minority... but it can't be downplayed.

Would not be surprised if there's some organisation behind this tonight. There will be certain people out there delighted that the assailant is allegedly "foreign" because they will be able to say "told you so" and inflame the situation further.

Genuine concern about housing and the gulf between rich and poor are being hijacked by opportunists.

There seems to be some issues in the farming community if this blog post is to be believed

A belief that they are the true inheritors of Ireland and reluctance to implement environmental changes or see an environmental crisis.

Farmers and the far right have long been bedfellows not just in Ireland
