IPCC say 12 years to limit climate change

The easiest thing for an individual in a Western country to do is stop (or greatly reduce) eating meat. It's even cheap!

But yeah, truly fixing the problem means overthrowing capitalism. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT

Personally;
I'm using less electric & gas - or trying to.
Using public transport (not easy, it is mile & half to the railway station, and tiny bit less to the bus stop (one service only although it is hourly in either direction) and the walk back climbs about 600 feet) when ever I can.
Concentrating on reducing the food miles in my diet - also attempting to grow my own.

Also attempting the three R's "Reuse, Repair, Recycle" with as much as I can.

As you said, we are fucked. And a lot of that fertiliser goes into cattle farming, which produces more methane...

there is no sea ice within 150 miles of alaska's coasts

this is previously unheard of

Experts 'running out of adjectives' for the latest evidence of climate breakdown | The Canary
The Cannery: "Experts ‘running out of adjectives’ for the latest evidence of climate breakdown"
Prof Peter Wadhams

Wadhams was once a well respected scientist. Today he is seen as a publicity seeking buffoon. The whole "Arctic Methane Emergency" group are treated with disdain in mainstream circles.
10 years ago the Arctic sea ice melt was way ahead of model projections. Now it seems to be in scope for the projections of summer sea ice going by about 2040.
Scientists do not run out of adjectives, they use numbers. The difference between qualitative assessments and quantitative.

It may be entertaining and self aggrandizing to post inflammatory content from The Canary. Enjoy yourself. I am sure many will enjoy it too.

Less "adjectives". More numbers.

Phew. That's all right then.

Yes, AMEG are embarrassing. But that's irrelevant really. Things may be happening a bit more slowly than Wadhams says, but the ice is going soon and its going is affecting the weather. Just pointing at him and jeering that he's exaggerating or wrong isn't going to change that. You know the world is heading for the hothouse so why avoid the issue? It's not exactly as if the indeterminate years remaining give us a lot of time to prepare.

Meanwhile, there's this. Calculate the effect of your plane travel on Arctic Ice:

The site says in its latest monthly update on Arctic ice: "Arctic sea ice extent for July 2019 set a new record low of 7.59 million square kilometers (2.93 million square miles)."

The Canary with a bollocks headline and article? Surely not?
