In praise of 'How to' videos...

Off and on this morning I have spent more than an hour sweating, swearing and fake crying with frustration  because I took my oven door off to clean it and the oven and then couldn't get the fucker back on...

Then I found Paul who taught me that I hadn't taken the door off in the right way in the first place, most importantly I hadn't clipped the security catches over the hooks therefore making it impossible to get both parts of the hinges back in place at the same time. :D

The door is now back on!

Share and praise how to videos that have shown you the way... everyday is a school day.

Yes these videos are good. About 2 years ago i had to wear a tie and id completly forgotten how to put them on. A yt video showed me how. :D
i also learnt how to put a douvet cover on without getting inside it and pretending to be a ghosty via a yt video.

Yes I am so much more self sufficient thanks to people like Paul. These videos can save lots of time, effort and money whilst making one feel super clever and efficient!

I've learnt how to do soooo many things with 'how to' videos:cool:

These days I have a handy friend who talks me through DIY type stuff and watches me to make sure i do it correctly via skype:D

I now fold all my t-shirts Japanese style thanks to this video

My Mum is a big YT user and tried to clean my oven door with bicarbonate of soda as she was told to on the net. It was a big fail and made a right mess. How did you clean yours? Was it effective?

Oven pride is the stuff to use. Just don't get it on your skin. It burns!!

This stuff? It says it has bags for the shelves...Do you know what size they are? I have large racks you see (why does this sound rude?). Also which supermarket do you normally buy this from? The one shown is on Amazon.

You can get it from any supermarket. The bags are large so should fit your racks but I don't know the exact size.

Recently used one is "how to unblock a toilet with a mop and plastic bag!"

Can't find the exact video now, but basically you take your mop, wrap a couple of supermarket bags around it and plunge the toilet a couple of times and hey presto, the blockage is gone.

Then you take a third plastic bag and put the mop and its bags into it for disposal, if you had wrapped the bags around the mop well it should still be dry, put the bags in the rubbish and you are done.

I have used this method three times in the past few years and it works like a charm.

And this one

I thought the easier way was to romove the clip at the bottom of the zip so that the slider will slip off the bottom of the teeth. Then try feeding the teeth of zip back on both sides of the slider - bit fiddly especially with nylon zips. When you have the slider with both sides inserted a bit hold both fabric bits really firmly and pull it up. Don't use too much brute force or you'll just knacker the zip. Then sew or staple it together at the bottom. If you staple it remember to put the ends of the staple on the side of the zip away from the body so they don't snag on your undies ( - or anything else)
