My dad lives there. Not Cebu, the Philippines.

I found it a bit booring and their obsession with karaoke annoying.
Picturesque though. Plus the modern mixed with medieval style poverty was eye opening.

Look up the 'Edgecoaster' in Cebu city on Youtube. Then go on it when you get there. They've probably finished the other insane ride there by now as well. Good food there. Nightlife's ok in Mango square. You'll never have seen so many guns, everywhere has an armed guard outside.

And if you can get down to Moalboal, about 3 hour drive, it's nice there with good diving/snorkelling/drinking.

Do you have a stopover in Manila? That is one crazy city. The islands are beautiful though. Haven't been to Cebu yet, have a ride in a Jeepney, but give the tricycles a miss. Death traps. Have fun, the Filipinos are lovely people.

We did fly to Manila for 4 nights. Was a great city but fairly quiet seeing as it's not the normal "tourist" season.
