I need a tent but I detest camping - what shall I get?

Hundred odd

As said you can get a pretty good or a pretty big tent for that money.

Half that would get you an okay pop up tent.

Don't go too cheap though. Features like ventilation cost.

Single skin tents are best avoided unless its a high spec one to be used at high altitude, otherwise the chances of condensation forming on the inside are high.

If you decide against a pop up I'd stick to a dome shape really. Easy to erect and you don't have to worry too much about getting the guy lines right. It'll stand up without them. Other shapes often need you to get the guying right for stability and to get the fly lifted away from the inner.

If you can get a tent that pitches "all in one" (I.e. the fly and Inner are already attached) that makes life even easier too.

Pop-up tents - Meh, gimmick. A decent, modern tent takes 2 min to set up unless you're a completely brainless div

I'm worse than that. I'm a brainless div who cannot follow instructions for assembling anything.
I also really can't be arsed with sticking poles through hoops and hammering little bendy pins into hard ground

I know but I cannot bear the thought of waking up, forgetting where I am and getting up and hitting that horrible stretchy material with my face.

I just got this one a few weeks back.

It's ace. Tiny, light, and superb for my needs.

1.25Kg?

That's claustrophobic!! Pogofish has one like that. Freaks me out! But you go places I wouldn't dream of so..... :D
I'm 5'5" and require a 3 man tent with porch for ME!

I carry my tent so it has to be small and light.

But it's not as pokey feeling as you'd expect, but you wouldn't want to have to spend days on end in it.

Or a bit wasted...

I can't remember the last time I tried to put a tent up that I wasn't trippin balls. I hate them so much that I need strong hallucinogenics to convince myself it might be fun.

srsly that one I had at Boomtown, I was pleasingly amazed by what a piece of piss it was

I may get a more carryable one and just get someone else to put it up and take it down.
I can be persuasive if i set my mind to it

It will be boiling hot if it's a sunny morning. The cheap way to prevent this is to get a medium sized black groundsheet and put it over the top of the tent.

Right, me and the OH needed a cheap tent for a car camping. My requirements was that it needed to entrances. This is so you can open both a bit in morning and get a breeze through leaving your tent at air temperature instead of being a greenhouse.

I found this on eBay for £38 !!!

/*Tits I cannae find it now but it was a Vango Atlas 300*/

Just bought it. Vango is a decent make at the budget end.
