the size doesn't need to be massive! There's only 2 of us and we're both quite small. Just needs to big enough to be comfortable with space to store boots/clothes etc.
hmmm there only seems to be one store in london in Collindale. Not really that close to Walthamstow unfortunately! And I don't drive.
I meant more the hassle of travelling all across london to get there and back - cost, time etc.If you can't get it on the bus do you really want to lug it across a festival site?

How long have you spent looking at tents online and not buying one? How much is P&P on a mail order tent?

within budget, got a reasonable porch but you won't be able to stand upright in it. Probably enough to put your trousers on if you bend at the waist
You don't stand to put trousers on in a tent, you lie down and wriggle in to them with your legs in the air. You can tell it's possible by all the people at fessies who manage to remain fully clothed throughout.
Can i gatecrash this thread please? I need to get a tent for me & my boyf. We want a 3 man tent (according to him), with porch area and enough space to stand up. Can anyone recommend anything? I've never bought a tent before! Don't really want to spend more than £80-ish.
If you can stretch to around a hundred for a tent I'd go with the Wild Country Zephyros. Either the 1 man I linked to above or the slightly bigger and heavier 2 man. http://www.fieldandtrek.com/wild-country-zephyros-2-tent-783174. Both will pack smaller and lighter than the Coleman and will be significantly higher quality. Wild Country also have the Coshee for a £100. Which is still under 2kg. It's a new tent though so I know little about it.
Tesco occasionally have a down sleeping bag for about £30 that gets rave reviews. Failing that a decent down bag will cost a fair bit.
I'll have a quick look now for you...
*bump*
I finally bought a tent! I took your advice and bought the one man version of the Wild Country Zephyros, like this one
I couldn't afford to spend that much on a sleeping bag, and after a lot of umming and ahhing I bought a snugpak softie elite 2, I was swayed by the weight and packed size
I am not sure about the comfort ratings yet. It is comfort rating is 2 degrees, with a low of -3. It has some special zip thing that can make it more or less roomy which is supposed to give a bit of temperature control.
It all fits in my rucksack with a decent amount of room for clothes and other stuff. I have a molle 30L backpack a bit like this one:
It is alright for what I want at the moment but I am thinking of getting something else at some point in the future, when I have a bit more money.
Also thinking of buying a trangia stove. Once I have something to cook with, I have everything I need, all on my back
All I need to do is go camping now! Going to walk up Snowdon first of all.
Cheers for your advice Chilango

Our winter goal is to get a decent tent for two people.
