It looks to me like they're trying to set something up like the Seven Day Adventists have. I don't know if you get it there, but there's a cartoon called Veggie Tales. It's basically 7DA propaganda.

There's a Seventh Day Adventist church in the next neighbourhood along from mine in Dublin - the congregants seem to be all West African and Central Asian.

Sometimes cute things like cartoon mascots give me this weird feeling of wistful melancholy. It seems like an especially bizarre reaction on my part when said mascot is the product of a possibly-cynical ploy to appeal to some marketer or proselyte's idea of popular culture, but then emotional interoception has always been a bit of a mystery for me.
