How to buy a used boring estate car and moving to France and buying a replacement ...

Brittany in the winter can be pretty grim. There are plenty of expats who ship over there, lock, stock, and barrel, and then learn over a winter that their summertime dream doesn't quite live up to a year round life.

I know you typed late at night, but this sums up the reason I decided not to comment further on my plans.

I had a long, heart-felt post prepared that I hoped would explain why I had not asked about how to go about choosing my retirement destination and life plans - a project I first considered well over ten years ago when I realised I would be retiring at some point - though the seeds were sown at 11 when I first found myself intrigued by learning a second language and then in my teens when I spent a couple of months in two very different parts of France to the one I finally settled on for some very rational reasons.

I started this thread in the transport section because buying and selling used cars is on my mind and has always been a challenge to me...
The logistics of getting to France and what do do with the RHD car were relevant ...

I long ago signed up to a discussion group of people who have made the move and there are specialist services recommended there that I may make use of ...

... but at the moment I am focussed on the task at hand which is hopefully to end up within a year with an empty house ready for disposal, with most of my possessions in storage, and my hand luggage plus my bed, a kettle and a hotplate...

Urban is starting to fail me when I would sooner be chatting in person to people I have theoretically "known" for up to 20 years ...
If my plans come to fruition, hopefully we will be able to do that in style.
