Horrific, but I fail to see how any form of of positive outcome comes from fining the Trust £800,000. Even the judge commented that this is money taken away from patient care.
I would assume that those directly at fault will be censured by their professional bodies.
When a workman dies, the directors of the company can be tried for corporate manslaughter, is it time this also applied to the Hospital Trust Chief Executives?
You are not going to make a service better by withholding funds.
