Here's Paris Hilton bragging about her awesome DJ skills

While you further criticise her for her life choices and opinions you're not really acknowledging that your impulse was/is to slut shame her.

Having read a little about her this afternoon I see that she bases her own 'knowledge' on her experiences of having an autistic child herself. So it would seem to be a little bit more complex because she probably believes that what she's saying IS worthwhile.
And remember that the American anti-vax thing is fucked on a whole other level compared to the UK; they took Wakefield himself into the fold.

Oh shit, it's *that* Jenny McCarthy, the anti-vax fuckwit. So it's *two* net deficits to humanity in that room. Ugh.

I have no problems with her having a career as a nude model, she's an attractive lass and if she wants to make money out of that then nothing to do with me. And she is just as entitled to have opinions as anyone else.
But the only reason she has been given a platform to air her views is because she looks good in a bikini which prior to the anti-vaxxer rubbish was the only thing she was famous for.
OK fair do's a lot of the blame for that falls squarely on the shoulders of the mostly male TV execs making decisions on the grounds that a Playboy Bunny spouting rubbish makes for higher TV ratings than a doctor
talking sense and thus implies her opinions have the same value as a medical degree.
However there seems to me to be little doubt that Ms McCarthy is well aware of this and has played such things to her maximum advantage in pushing her message that she "Just Knows" vaccines are bad.
She clearly knows that she is being listened to because she looks good on TV (and she has no other actual skills) and she is not using her platform to do something worthwhile like encouraging girls to go to college or not let
boys treat them as sex objects or indeed even just to flog cosmetics.
She is using her platform to spread a dangerous and discredited opinion taking full advantage of the fact that people will watch just because she is famous for
what she did before.

It's very kind of you to give her permission to have an opinion even though she took her clothes off in public. Most men don't think they have to but you went the extra mile and I appreciate that. I'm only sorry that it wasn't one of the opinions that you have helpfully listed.

She stands for so many things I dislike: privilege, vast inherited wealth, a lack of humility, vain, monster sized ego and and a total self centred belief in her talents without acknowledging the immense headstart she's had over everyone else.

I don't doubt that deluded though she may be Ms McCarthy fully believes the guff she spouts. However my criticism of her is based on the way she cynically pushes it.
She isn't saying "Listen to me because I am an intelligent and well-educated woman who has thoroughly researched my subject and thus my opinion should be carefully considered"
She is saying listen to me because "I am pretty, my Mummy Instincts tell me better than all these people holding MD's (including so many other women) and did I mention I was pretty?"
Nothing wrong with a woman being pretty, there is certainly nothing wrong with a woman being smart and there are so many that are both.
This woman however is cynically using her appearance to push her message, I presume you are a woman? Don't you think it undermines everything feminists have worked for if a woman's
appearance is given more weight than her intelligence or her education when it comes to what she says? even if her message was valid rather than dangerous guff.

I think she probably is saying the former, its you who is obsessing about her appearance.

And this is all a diversion away from why you won't acknowledge, as I pointed out before, your instinct to slut shame and discredit her for being sexy and/or pretty.

No I am not trying to shame her for being sexy and/or pretty, I have no issues with her being that, I take issue with the fact that she cynically uses the fact she is so clearly both of those to push her agenda.

I thought Paris Hilton was last decade?
 not heard or read much about her in years....since her personal assistant* became even more (in)famous than her.

*Kim Kardashian

Really? I had no idea that's where Kim K came from* ... Even more reason to detest Paris.

*and let's be honest here I'm not sure I really know who she is even now

No because every relationship with every friend would change. You'd be a multi millionaire, they wouldn't be.

Yes I suppose that would be true, sadly. Even the ones you sorted out it would change the dynamics. I'd rather have my mates than lots of money ... I think :hmm:

It really isn't that different.....a lot of djs are producers too. In fact producing is the way in to the big league circuit

hard to name Djs from last decade or so that have made it without production / label profile - Jackmaster was one standout example, but that seems to have gone belly up after the summer 2018 nastiness .

missed that, whats the gossip on jackmaster?

Yeah but imagine how brilliant it would be to suddenly inherit millions.

What's the point? I don't come from that kind of money, play the lottery or gamble so day dreaming in that way is a waste of time.

I can't stand the 'lack' and unhappiness that kind of aspiration leaves me feeling. I see it in others too, it's toxic. I prefer to work harder on enjoying the life I do have.

What happens when you put two of the worst people in the world in the same room and let them have an entirely unfiltered conversation, as if they are completely unaware that everything they are saying is being recorded for posterity (which they pretty much aren't)?

Nothing very interesting.

(I've had it on in the background whilst doing other things - at one point Paris was saying that she has seen lots of bad people come and go from "the industry" (which industry isn't clear, although probably not something that conforms to any traditional definitions and does something so boring as producing something of value) and they don't last because of "karma". You are living breathing proof that karma doesn't exist, Par-rissss....)

Could I trade in some of the fringe ones for a moderate amount of money?:p
:D yeah. I’m thinking 2.5 mil would sort me out fine.

1 mil to buy my kids a home each and enough money as a safety net to never have to worry (£250,000 each for a house, £250,000 so they never had to worry).

The other mil I’d pay out family & mates. Gifts of £100,000 all round would mean no more worries for people I love who’ve worried all their lives.

The final half mil is for me. I’d keep my job but have a year out to see the world. I’d buy a good second hand golf. Have the garden done (but I’m stopping put in my 3-bed next to the park tyvm). The rest I’d give to the Samaritans.

Any of my mates who were so jealous they couldn’t live with that plan wouldn’t be my mates. I only have five really good mates, the rest I could smile and see ya later in order to sort my kids n family out :)

(PS editor on the off chance you get lucky, don’t feel burdened, my door and bank account is always open to help you  ).

I figure €500,000 would sort me out for good. I would pay off the mortgage and retire. I could retire on health grounds and feel like I have something to fall back on if needed.
I wouldn't object to a million but I think I'd be very happy to just not owe anything to anyone.

I won't be satisfied with less than 10 million.
But with 10 million I would do so much good in the world!
I'd set up a publishing company which offers mentoring for writers (as well as making beautiful books), I'd grant scholarships and bursaries, set up a youth club in my area which is directed by young people...

And then you'd be able to enjoy the burning resentment of the mates you didn't sort out, or the friends and family who thought they deserved more.
