Adam Booth (Haye's trainer) has just said that Haye's defence was "non-existent", attributes it to a cut a few weeks ago which meant he missed out on some sparring.
Think Haye was taking it easy because lets face it no one likes to pay to see a champion knock out a has-been in 2 rounds. They want a bit of a show for their money. So they gave them one.
Haye wasn't really even trying in round 9 with his left guard wide open.
Not at all. Complacent once he got the first knockdown in and you could see it was his match (barring the possibility of a lucky haymaker from Luiz.....which could have well been possible) and from then on he could have finished it a good few times - I even thought it was a fix for a second based on the bookies pre 8th round odds........but Haye's defence was terrible, and his accuracy was off (lots of back of the head punches) but he was the better boxer from the start, the other geezer has had his day I'm afraid. Needs to be more versatile to take on better opponents, he had a gameplan with the russian but he would have only gotten beaten with one, now he's relying on his confidence and ego too much, that left hand is doing nothing. You aint ali mate, you cant afford that approach......
