Hardcore Speaker Porn

Yeah, much as I hate them I can't help but be impressed by the technical achievement of it. It's jam dropping in it's scale, especially when you realise they had three sets of everything, leapfrogging each other across the venues on the tour. It cost $750,000 per day to run.

WTF. All that shit, built three times?!?!?!

WTF. All that shit, built three times?!?!?!

It has to be because of the time taken to build and then derig it. You basically have the previous show being taken down, the current show happening and the next one being built. It's a total of over 150 articulated trucks worth of gear.

Years ago me and a mate did work experience at a place that was making some speaker cabinets for some big U2 set up we scratched Bono is a cunt on the inside of as many as we could, childish yes but the funniest thing in the world when you are 15

There are less sophisticated armies, I'd wager.

It's amazing how quickly a good crew can operate.

With the exception of the basic skeleton of the stage (main deck, roof and PA support towers), everything you can see in this picture was packed into trucks and on the road less than 3 and a half hours after the band finished.

so a teeeny little backdrop, and some speakers that i could run off me walkman. I could have pissedthat away in to a truck in seconds......

it's holographic, I'd have just switched the light off and slipped the slide into me lucy locket, job done.

You're also not taking into account, me ignoring all thefacts, and me being fucking amazing at everything. I thangyew

Hmmm...

If you mean the stage mons and sidefills maybe...just the backline...... <pinch> salt </pinch>

.p.

I dunno, that was what I was told by the FOH system tech. I was too busy running around at the time to worry, all I do know is that I had -25dB plugs in and it was still painful :D

^^ Not quite on this scale but I've just got a Marantz pm6003 and a nice set of Mission Mx1s to put it through. Big change from my crappy midi system.

From a website called http://most-expensive.net/, linked elsewhere on Urban.

At $2 million, Transmission Audio’s Ultimate system is truly the pinnacle of bank-breaking speaker systems. I’d wager it sounds pretty good as well.

"Ultimate consists of twelve 500W speakers, an Audio Laboratory BP-1 dual-mono power amp and a BC-1 preamp. In addition to the already impressive array of speakers, Ultimate also features forty 15” subwoofers and another twenty-four 8” woofers. On the high-midrange and high frequency levels, ribbon technology is employed for high fidelity and reliability."

So many of the stacks on this thread will sound bloody awful, just a mess of comb filtering due to the ways the drivers are arranged.

Look cool though :D
