Hackney chitter-chatter &tc

Canal burst it's banks in Hackney Wick

I liked this scoop:

'Meanwhile, in central London only the mast of the floating bar and restaurant, which was moored at Temple Pier, could still be seen on Thursday night.

A spokesman for the boat owners, Bar & Co boat, said it was "likely it sunk because of weather conditions".'

I used to work on Fish Island, people were warning about the likelihood of flooding back when they first started regeneration works for the Olympics. The whole area has been an absolute shit show of speculative greed running through the London Legacy Development Corporation.

For anyone who fancies going Hackney Wassailing on Sunday 14th :D

My friends are going (as they do every year). And every year, I think 'oh, a walk would be nice' and then I remember the singing to the trees and pouring beer on their roots and think 'nah'....

My guess is that the result is as much about the Tories getting out the orthodox Jewish vote as the drama around the Labour candidate.

Still a bit of a surprise though.

I'm in that ward regularly and wasn't aware of any signs of campaigning. I'd forgotten that the byelection was yesterday until I drove past Clapton Library and saw the signs for the Polling Station

The reggae cd section in the library was out of bounds because of the polling. Toddler threw a proper tandrum.
Can i now blame the tories?

Has anyone seen the chap , who lives near Clapton station, who dresses like a Regency fop?

I was chatting to him last night , told him I admired his look , he thanked me , and told me the Police hated the way he dressed , regularly told him they hated the look. It's time something was done about police behaviour towards regency fops!

I assumed the whole library was closed for the day, rather than just the reggae CD section
