Disturbed in a pink bra
I made this last night and it was so yummy that the whole loaf was sliced, buttered and devoured within the hour by the lilhissys. There is now another on the go, filling the house with yummy hot cross bun type smell MMMMMM
so I thought Id share it with you luverly peeps
Spiced fruit bread
200ml warm watr
1tablespoon milk powder ( I used a splash of real milk though cos we were out)
1 Egg, beaten
2 tablespoons butter at room temp
1/2 tsp salt
1 sachet fast acting yeast
2 tsp Mixed spice
14 oz strong white bread flour
3 tablespoons caster sugar
5 oz sultanas
Set breadmaker to light crust 1.5lb loaf on a sweet setting
Add the water, egg and butter first to the loaf pan then the flour, salt, spice sugar and yeast.
set the machine going, when the beeper goes after mixing into dough add the sultanas
2 1/2 hours later you'll have a yummy loaf dont leave it in the keep warm setting though or it ruins it. You need to get it out immediately and let it cool
Mine was quite soft while hot, more cakey than bready but on cooling it became much more bread like but lovely and light
