Gordon Ramsey

As a chef, there can't be any higher praise than a job offer from Ramsey, good luck to them :)

The head chef at the Glasshouse, was a complete egotistical wanker imo. "You belong to me etc" Twat

Yeah that was just not on!!! :D

What tickled me was that both the owner and the chef didn't seem to pull him up on the fact that he'd just ripped the heart out of their operation.

Easy prey, both of them. Ineffectual chef, soft owner. A bad combination.

I'm sorry, but I don't agree. Being a chef is fucking hard work. The reason that the owner and the head chef didn't complain, is that this practice is very common. I've worked in some kitchens, where a new head chef has been appointed, and when they arrive they bring one or two of their better chef de partie's with them. It gives the chef de partie a better cv.

Just my opinion.

sorry if this has been said already...has anybody noticed that in every show there is at least one topless shot of Gordon when he's changing into his chef uniform...I seem to be finding him more attractive as the weeks go by!

I know mate, I work as a head chef and I've been in the industry for well over a decade now. ;)

Chefs will always bring their chosen ones along with them: the difference in this case is that Ramsey went into the Glasshouse under the pretence of sorting it out, left in a "tsk, when will they learn"-kinda huff after the owner refused to sack the dozy chef, came back a year later to find the place was - somehow - a success, then ripped out the two young, talented ones in the kitchen that were making it all happen. The owner just lapped it all up and said thank you for coming.

Much as I admire Ramsey I'd call that cheeky, non?

I think it was well cheeky. But Ms T and i went to Ramsay's place two weeks ago for our fifth anniversary and it was the best food I've ever had in a restaurant. I worship the man frankly and he can do nothing wrong in my eyes.

I kind of see where you're coming from, but if we both agree that the head chef is a bit of a wanker, and the owner has a soft spot to keep him, then the best thing Ramsey could do for the more 'talented' two is to take them away.

They would never progress staying where they were. Might as well leave the head chef and the owner to sort it out. It wasn't exactly hard work, as Ramsey said, all the food was cooked beforehand, so get in a couple of commis' to do it. non?

Edit: even a decent kp could do it

I couldn't agree more. I'm laughing at a) the bare-faced cheek of Ramsey's poaching antics, and b) the doh! factor of the owner and chef in agreeing to have him back again to show off the success of their new operation only to have him piss all over them.

It's a dog eat dog world out there after all, but - would you let Ramsey into your kitchen? I wouldn't. He'd be eyeing-up my best chefs and wondering if the place would be a good investment.
That's why he's the best. He's an utter wanker.

It’s a bit bloody cheeky to re-heat a previous episode as part of a new series by adding six extra minutes.

Yeah, a bit redux, a bit pot-noodle. Very odd, although to be fair the six minutes were very good. :D

Interesting point there chef. Is there that much difference between one of your chefs applying for a better position, assuming there is a better one ;) , and say, a chef like Ramsey poaching one. (no pun intended).

If you were going to lose a chef, which option would you prefer?

I'd say there's an absolute distinction between intent and temptation.

Let's call it the difference between a) someone wanting out of a relationship that's run its course and b) having a young Britt Eckland take you aside and tell you that she wants to make you a happy man. Forever. With whatever it takes.

There is no good option there. Not for me at least. ;)

Grated cheese.

I hate it too, although to be fair I do have the memory of a goldfish - I missed the start and it took me half an hour to fully comprehend why everything seemed so familiar. Bastards. :o
