Glastonbury festival lineup 2009

Our age difference becomes more and more apparent as the evening wears on young William

I dont even know who several of these are.......

Status Quo
Tony Christie
Amadou & Mariam
Tom Jones
Madness
Nick Cave
Blur

I do know that Status Quo are absolute bastards though :)

TJ is alright as well.

Are you a really laid back jesus? Crucified in the 60's and came back to life 30 years later?

I do agree tho, everyone in that list, except madness and blur are shit.

You've outed me for the oldster I am ... :p

If you did come along, you could guarentee that you'd find plenty of stuff you loved anywhere and everywhere on site. The real gems are further down the lists usually, IME ... :)

Thats whats pulling me back mate ;)

Been 8 years in a row, except the last one, cos the previous 2 pissed down. Was gutted when watching it on telly. I may try and worm my way in :)

i can't see orbital anywhere? did i just assume they were playing glastonbury when they reformed or did i read them talking about in the big issue last week?

i'm not actually that bothered, i'm not going. but i'll be much more cheerful about that fact if i know for sure that i won't be missing orbital. :D

Nick Cave is shit? :hmm: x:mad: x:rolleyes: = :(

The great thing about Glastonbury is that you can check out bands that you'd never normally shell out money to see. Status Quo are the perfect example. I'd never be seen dead at one of their gigs, but I did like them when I was 14 so it would be fun to see them.

Too many has-beens for my liking, it seems the sunday afternoon slots have spread to the whole weekend. I'd rather see up & coming new bands at the top of their game headlining rather than people who might put on a good show but who have seen it all before. Never mind I'm sure I'll find plenty to enjoy.

Might have to check the Quo out though.

But surely there's tons of new bands all over the second/John Peel/Park stages? It certainly seems more on the ball this year, rather than the usual line up of sub-Coldplay type bands.

Animal Collective are headlining one stage. That should be a good 'un.

Damn, I'm so ready to go to Glastonbury again. I wonder if I ever will? :(

oh yes theres plenty to see elsewhere I would just like to a new band headline the main stage on at least one night, guess i'll have to make do with Kasabian. The also doesn't seem to be much decent IDM/electronica stuff happening at first glance, I'm sure i'll find some good stuff on closer inspection.

looking forward to Metronomy, The Horrors & The Filthy Dukes

A new band headline the Pyramid stage? They'd have to have become massive overnight. In times gone by, I've tended to ignore most of the Pyramid line up, pretty much - those bands are the price you pay for having the bands you really want to see playing on the other stages, if you see what I mean. They pull in the punters that pay for the little stages. But this year, I seem to be digging out the pipe and slippers and saying "Bloody good Sunday line up..." Eeek!

:D:D

Top work, the usual Glastonbury fayre of a little bit of everything spread across a massive area. I can safely guarantee that I will be spoilt for choice as usual. But the Quo on a sunday morning? If it's not raining I'm very there.

One point about Amadou & Mariam - Damon Albarn cowrote a couple of songs on their latest album, so expect him to turn up during their show. The album's excellent, so well worth seeing even if you're not a Blur fan.

Im usually massively disapointed by the main stage headline acts anyway - I dont feel comfortable near the front and they always turn the volume way down on the satellite speakers near the back.

superb line up!

im just now waiting to find out what im going to miss when im working wbc shifts! doh...

the specials, status quo, dreadzone, peaches, nick cave, blur, the prodigy, amadou and miriam, 3 daft monkeys, rolf harris... did i say status quo! ha. the first band i ever saw live. my dad took me to one of their concerts in the secc. im sure it was the "in the army now tour"..... brilliant. well looking foward to it. peatbog faeries as well... spoiled for choice yet again.. and thats not forgetting the almighty bruce springsteen... one of them artists ive always wanted to cross off my list /. im super fucking excited :D

I have this odd feeling that I must see S.Quo , Its possible they could be special ,exactly the type of band that could be the big surprise , now I`ve said it though it will probably be a Rockin all over the world / In the Army now dirge BUT Caroline , Paperplane ? :D

I'd be happy with the cheese TBH. :)

(I've now reached such an advanced age, I can see the funny side. Anyone of their ilk who can release an album called "In Search of the Fourth Chord" deserves a peculiar kind of respect.)

Only a few bands that I'd fancy going to see there.

The Rockingbirds, Dan Le Sac and Scroobius Pip, Horace Andy, Stanton Warriors and maybe Stereo MCs.

Would love to go.

Is there anyway to blag myself and my four year old daughter in?

I was wondering about Cat Empire too. They were great on Avalon in 07 even though we had to miss Arcade Fire for them.

I've tickets for them at Shep's Bush the weekend after so they're in the country.
