I assume you were old enough to be out and about at the time and got to talk to some people
I was in the City at the time of both those bombings, saw people who had glass blown into their faces etc -which by the way is an awful sight - in the days after each I personally know of people who because of their accents were attacked - which in the case of a friend of mine, a certain MIchael O'Leary - 3rd Dan Karate, was a very big mistake!!!. The witch hunt that created the atmosphere for things like the Birmingham six to get convincted meant pretty much ALL irish people in the UK were nervous.
AS for the who, pretty much anyone. People, including 2 young girls in the Baltic excahnge bombing, died. It was never just economic and I certianly met people from all walks off life, who were up for a bit of violence against pretty much anything Irish> If the campaign had been any bigger the reaction would have been severe
As for Banks thinking about moving to Frankfurt, not sure where you dreamed that up from, but that was never on the cards
The vibe from everyone in the City was "Fuck em" to the point of refusing to leave their dealing rooms during bomb alerts
