It's on Dave (a Freeview channel) st 9pm on New Year's Day.

Nothing more remains to be said...

There looks like there's a Linehan and Mathews night on More4 tonight, with Father Ted, followed by Black Books and The IT Crowd. I'll watch the first two (FT because it's the best programme ever and BB because I haven't seen it in years), but will probably give The IT Crowd a miss. It never grabbed me like FT did.

A Child's Christmases in Wales

Here's something that seems to have slipped through the net. I found it on iplayer by accident. It's up 'till 6th Jan.
It was on BBC4. "A Child's Christmases in Wales"

I would describe it as a gentle comedy drama about Christmases in Wales viewed through the eyes of a young boy during the 80's

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00pgr8x/b00pgr2n/A_Childs_Christmases_in_Wales/

I found this about x20 more enjoyable than the contrived 'Royle Family'
There's bits in it that are shite, like the kid saying to his da on the way back from the phonebox about how great it would be if we all had phones in our pockets

but ...

I had no expectations of it, which is the way to approach things really.

The ITV spoiler for Dr Who:

19:05 The Italian Job
A crook inherits a supposedly foolproof scheme to steal £4million in bullion from an Italian armoured car, planning to bring Turin to a standstill and make a quick getaway in a fleet of Minis. He quickly puts together a motley gang to carry out the robbery - only to fall foul of the Mafia. Crime comedy, starring Michael Caine, Noel Coward, Benny Hill, Tony Beckley and John Le Mesurier.
Ridiculous! :D

Good enough for midnight. If you're into it, an Oscar for Michael Caine, as well as John Irving for adapting his own book:

23:40 The Cider House Rules
An orphan grows up under the wing of the doctor running the home where he lives, and helps him deliver babies to unmarried mothers and perform abortions. However, he is eager to see more of life and joins a pilot and his girlfriend on the road - but unforeseen events force him to face a host of difficult personal and moral choices. Drama, starring Michael Caine in an Oscar-winning role, with Tobey Maguire, Charlize Theron and Paul Rudd.
