I've gone through a lot of the names on this website and although ive got about 20% left to do - id say its very striking how many males have died compared to women. Out of the 1000 names ive checked, 880 are deceased males.

It's skewed all across the age groups, even for example ages 0-5 where from the information i have shows that 31 out of the 40 deaths were boys. It's especially true of boys/men aged 16-40 where it's roughly 90%+.

Edited to add: 0-17 years old makes up 22% of all deaths, male and female.

is there any cultural reason to expect that difference, eg girls less likely to be allowed out of the house, or is that evidence of IDF targeting the male Palestinians?

or a bit of both?

interested to see the final stats if you manage to get through the list.

That will be hard as information is incomplete as far as exact location of death goes. I'll have a look though. Might be worth trying to find out from Palestinians if there is a tendency for men to stay at home.

In no expert in Gaza demographics or general statistics so I can't really comment past the obvious.

I did not know about Israel diamond industry until last Friday. Someone I met from War on Want at the Israeli Embassy demo explained it to me.

Part of problem is knowing when one buys a diamond ring where it was polished and cut.

I seem to recall a lot of guesthouses in India with signs up, banning the fuckwits. Which I'm sure they interpreted as 'anti-semetic' but in actual fact was due to the way they behave. Just an awful nation. I know that's a generalization, but I've only met about 2 decent ones in all my travels. Fuck them. And fuck their stupid religion.

the religion doesn't have a great deal to do with it frankly. there are plenty of decent Israelis, a lot of them are living and working here and I think a lot of them also avoid getting involved in anything religious (which will often have Zionist undertones) over here
